About Ladakh
Ladakh is a high-altitude desert of monasteries, stark mountains and blue lakes. Leh is at about 3,500 metres, so every itinerary begins with rest days for acclimatisation before crossing high passes to Nubra valley and Pangong Tso. Permits are required for several areas.
